Structure

Rise Gymnastics Explore follows a unique Awards Scheme focused on three key strands:

  • Core Skills – Developing fundamental movements like jumping, rolling, and balancing to build strength and coordination.
  • Apparatus – Learning to use various gym equipment to improve technique, control, and confidence.
  • Working Together – Fostering teamwork, communication, and social skills through group and partner activities.

Each strand has four levels, allowing gymnasts to progress independently within each area.

Progression

To earn each award, gymnasts must complete 8 out of the 12 skills offered in each strand.

The flexible structure allows children to develop at their own pace, focusing on the areas that interest them most.

Each level offers new challenges and opportunities for growth, fostering a sense of achievement and encouraging continued development.

Rewards

Gymnasts can earn exciting medals and certificates for each level they achieve in every strand. These rewards celebrate their progress and dedication, helping to motivate them as they work towards mastering new skills and advancing to higher levels.

Please note: Medals and certificates are chargeable and can be purchased at reception once your child has been awarded them.

Rise Gymnastics Excel

Structure

Rise Gymnastics Excel offers an advanced Awards Scheme that includes four strands:

  • Core Skills – Mastering advanced gymnastics movements for strength, control, and flexibility.
  • Small Apparatus – Using smaller equipment like mats and beams to refine technique and coordination.
  • Large Apparatus – Developing skills on larger equipment such as trampolines and vaults.
  • Working Together – Enhancing teamwork and communication through group exercises and partner activities.

Progression

Each strand has three levels, and gymnasts progress independently in each. To achieve awards in Core Skills, gymnasts must complete 10 out of the 14 skills offered. For Small Apparatus, Large Apparatus, and Working Together, gymnasts need to achieve 7 out of the 10 skills offered in each strand. Each level represents a new set of challenges, allowing gymnasts to build confidence and continue to excel in their gymnastics journey.

This structure encourages gymnasts to develop a more comprehensive skill set while challenging them to perfect their technique and performance.

Rewards

As gymnasts achieve each level within the four strands, they will earn medals and certificates, which recognise their progress and success in each area. These rewards celebrate their hard work and dedication, motivating them to continue striving for excellence.

Please note: Medals and certificates are chargeable and can be purchased at reception once your child has been awarded them.

Yes, you are welcome to watch your child’s lesson from the designated spectator area located above the Sports Hall.

For safety and to avoid distractions, parents/guardians should not enter the hall during the session. However, you may be invited in for the final 10 minutes of the lesson — or the final 30 minutes for ADV/DEV sessions — to observe your child’s progress. Please wait to be invited in by a member of the gymnastics team before entering the hall.

You can sign up for gymnastics via our website! Click here for more information.

Children can start gymnastics from 18 months old. Those under 5 years join our Pre-school lessons, while children aged 5 and over can enrol in our main gymnastics programme.

For more detailed information, please click here.

Your child should bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during the session and wear appropriate sports clothing that allows for easy movement. Please ensure they follow the clothing guidelines for safety and comfort.
If your child is under 8 years old, a parent or guardian must remain in the building for the entire duration of the session. For children aged 8 and over, parents may leave the building, but must ensure their child is safely dropped off and collected on time.

Children should wear appropriate sports clothing such as leotards, fitted shorts, sports leggings, or fitted tops. This ensures freedom of movement and prevents clothing from catching on equipment. Thermals or base layers can be worn underneath.

Please make sure your child’s hair is tied back and off their face. All jewellery and accessories must be removed and kept by a parent or guardian before the session starts. Shoes and socks will be removed once inside the Sports Hall.

Feedback/survey emails are sent out twice a year, should you require more urgent attention, please speak with Front of House or a Duty Manager. Alternatively, please take a look at our feedback procedure.
