At Ageless & Agile, we’re always looking for ways to spark connection, creativity and fun across our sessions — and about a year ago, a light-hearted idea began to grow into something much more meaningful.
That idea? Group mascots.
It all started when Sarah (Session Leader) suggested creating an overall mascot or logo that could represent the Ageless & Agile spirit. The idea quickly caught on, but as conversations developed within each group, it became clear that one mascot wouldn’t be enough! Each group (Louth, Skegness, Horncastle and Mablethorpe) had its own personality and the enthusiasm to create something unique was undeniable. So, we embraced that individuality — and the Ageless & Agile mascots were born!

A Mascot for every group!
Each group helped shape their own mascot, contributing ideas, personality traits and even names. Some members sketched concepts, others did a bit of research and in a wonderfully creative twist, several were even hand-knitted by members of the group!
So, of course, let us introduce them!
- Mabel the Seal from Mablethorpe – a nod to the local seal sanctuary.
- Skip the Jolly Fisherman from Skegness – a cheerful tribute to the town’s seaside heritage.
- Lou the Hare from Louth – with a name that ties directly to the town.
- ‘H’ from Horncastle – a little knitted figure who brings a whole lot of charm.

Why the Mascots matter…
The mascots aren’t just cute companions — they’ve become a fun and meaningful part of the group experience. Each one holds significance because they were co-created by the group they represent. That sense of ownership fosters pride, laughter and a real sense of belonging.
The idea is simple: group members can take their mascot with them on outings — whether it’s a big trip to the Lake District or just a visit to the local pub. They snap a photo or two, and when they return, they share their adventures with the group. It’s sparked joy, curiosity and some brilliant conversations.
From the cinema to garden centres, sci-fi events to Sunday roasts, our mascots have had quite the social calendar. Some have even made it as far as London and Bakewell, and we’re hoping the scrapbook project — currently in the works — will help capture all these adventures in one place, with captions, dates and a few laughs along the way.

Building Connections
“What’s been really special about the mascots is seeing how much ownership each group has taken in creating theirs. It’s not just about a fun photo — it’s sparked conversations, brought out memories of past holidays, and encouraged people to share a bit more of themselves. That sense of belonging and connection is what Ageless & Agile is all about.”
— Marko, Ageless & Agile Session Leader
So, next time you see a little seal, a cheerful fisherman, a friendly hare, or a knitted figure on someone’s table, ask them about it! Chances are, there’s a great story behind the smile.
