Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death around the world — and heartbreakingly, we’ve felt that impact close to home in our own coastal communities.
World Drowning Prevention Day is recognised globally on 25 July, and we’re proud to stand alongside the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK), the National Water Safety Forum, and international organisations like the UN and WHO to raise awareness of drowning as a serious — and preventable — public health issue.
Why It Matters
Drowning claims hundreds of lives every year in the UK, and thousands more worldwide. Yet many of these tragedies can be avoided through education, awareness and accessible life-saving skills. That’s why this day is so important.
At Magna Vitae, water safety is part of our DNA. As a charity rooted in coastal communities, we’re committed to protecting lives through education and action. Together, we can help reduce the risk of drowning — not just for one day, but for every day that follows.
