Marketing Work Experience at Magna Vitae – King Edward’s Grammar School Student
Last week, we were delighted to welcome Maddy, a student from King Edward’s Grammar School in Louth, to Magna Vitae for a three-day Marketing work experience placement. With an interest in marketing as a potential future career, Maddy spent her time learning first-hand what it’s like to be part of a professional content and marketing team.
Working alongside our Content Creator, Maddy was introduced to the full Marketing Team and enjoyed guided tours of our venues in Louth and Skegness. Throughout the placement, she gained insight into our key marketing functions including social media management, website and app content and digital design.
We explored key areas of branding, brand values and how marketing campaigns are planned and executed. One highlight of the experience was watching the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum drone team in action at our Skegness venue—an exciting opportunity to capture behind-the-scenes content and learn how drones are used in planning and evacuations scenarios.

Maddy also had an exclusive backstage tour of the Embassy Theatre, gaining insight into venue marketing and audience engagement strategies.
Reflection from our Content Creator, Sophie Browne:
“Maddy has been an absolute joy to have with us during her work experience. She demonstrated strong capability and excellent listening skills—particularly during her final task of writing a thoughtful reflection piece. It was clear she fully engaged with the experience and took a lot from the three days. We’re always proud to offer opportunities like this, giving young people valuable insight and practical experience in the leisure industry.”

On the final day, she took on a video content task—filming one of our Lifestyle Consultants using microphones, then editing the footage in CapCut, a mobile video editing app. Her video was then published on our social media platforms to promote a brand new class!
Reflection from Maddy:
“My experience at Magna Vitae has been very positive. I have learnt about video editing and the importance of knowing your audiences in order to create the relevant content. I also learnt the importance of consistency and branding in order to create a good brand identity. Marketing is what I expected however is a lot more time consuming and more detailed than I thought it would be.”

We’d like to thank Maddy for her enthusiasm and willingness to get stuck in. It’s always a pleasure to support young people exploring careers in Marketing—and we’re proud to offer valuable student work experience placements like this at Magna Vitae.
We even had to get a cheeky photo of Maddy next to her brother—currently starring in our Pool Power campaign, as well as our Every Moment Matters and Drowning Prevention videos. She couldn’t escape him, even on work experience!
