What is Get Out Get Active?

Get Out Get Active (GOGA) supports disabled and non-disabled people to enjoy being active together and is funded by the Spirit of 2012 fund.  Magna Vitae have been commissioned to deliver three elements of the project in East Lindsey.  The three elements are Veteran Fit, Virtual Gyms and Walking/Geocaching.  This project offers local residents opportunities to take part in physical activity within their community, as well as our core venues.

Veteran Fit

Our key to achieving successful outcomes for the veteran fit element is a strong relationship with The Royal British Legion, enabling all 11 branches of The Royal British Legion in East Lindsey the opportunity to design activities ‘what, where, when and how’ they want.

Virtual Gym

This element focuses on delivering exercise classes and activities to participants in non traditional sports venues.  Bringing high quality active opportunities to wherever the users want to participate.  From village halls, church’s, pubs to car parks and beaches where the users go we go.  Physical activity when, where and how residents want it.

Walking, Geocaching and Treasure Fit

A wide variety of programmed activities will be delivered under this element.  Themed walks incorporating topics such as heritage and nature will be delivered.  There will also be 30 minute introductory guided walks lead by volunteer walk leaders and GOGA staff with the opportunity for participants to feed into the establish health walks in East Lindsey.  The walking sports will also form an important part of the delivery and provide opportunity for people to enjoy sports they may have once played.

The project has had a strong start through the relationship with the Royal British Legion and by working with key individuals at the heart of the community.  The activities continue to evolve following the feedback and views of customers.

There is a strong social element to the activities which helps to create a friendly atmosphere and good retention rates.
