Louth Rotary Club donation keeping Sporting Memories alive

/ Culture

A huge thank you to Louth Rotary Club  for their generous donation of £500  to the community arm of the Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure & Culture. This will support our Ageless & Agile group which allows the Sporting Memories programme to live on!

The Louth Rotary Club has been backing the Magna Vitae Trust in their community endeavours, specifically their Sporting Memories initiative, for the past five years. The Sporting Memories programme, which started during lockdown and was conducted virtually, provided a platform for individuals aged 50 and above to gather and reminisce about past events and notable moments. Post-lockdown, the group resumed in-person meetings in Louth, Skegness, Horncastle, and Mablethorpe.

The session, now delivered as part of the ‘Ageless and Agile’ group, continues to provide access to a variety of activities linked to physical activity and mental and physical wellbeing. The sessions, delivered weekly within the Magna Vitae leisure venues, include nutritional support, advice, guidance and signposting to other services.

Thanking the club, Magna Vitae Lifestyle Partnership Lead Tracey Wilkinson, said:

“We are very grateful for this donation of £500 and all the others we have received from the Rotary Club of Louth.  The donation helps support the Louth Ageless & Agile group,  enabling many people to remain socially and physically active and create friendships.”

Marko, who leads the Ageless & Agile sessions, had this to say:

“It is great to be supported by the Rotary Club in Louth. Their donations contribute to our ongoing delivery of Ageless & Agile and will be used towards extra activity days such as archery. In May, we are also holding a Dementia-friendly Sports Day which is open to all Ageless & Agile participants and other partners. This is taking place on Monday 13th 1-3:30pm and will be held at Meridian Leisure Centre, Louth.”

If you’re interested in attending one of Magna Vitae’s Ageless and Agile sessions, these take place on Thursdays at 1.30pm at Meridian Leisure Centre, Mondays at Phoenix Court, Trenchard Road, Mablethorpe, LN12 1RR (whilst our venue is closed and our brand new venue is being built) at 10am, Skegness Pool & Fitness Suite on Tuesdays at 10am and Horncastle Pool & Fitness Suite on Fridays from 10am.
