Louth ‘Dolphins’ Swimming Club 36th Annual Club Championship Presentation Event

/ Health & Fitness

Louth Swimming Club recently held their 36th Annual Club Championships presentations at the London Road Sports Pavilion, at last returning to normality after two years of Covid restrictions and what a night it was, enjoyed by all. The event was held late in 2022 but because of a very busy calendar the presentation night was delayed until Feb 2023.

Events Coordinator Charlotte Elliott-Wright did a stunning job with the logistics involved in organising an event of this magnitude, with advice from the club’s Director of Swimming James McIntyre. The whole evening was dedicated to James who sadly passed away just before Christmas. An event of this magnitude couldn’t happen without our band of volunteers the team of coaches/officials, team managers, technical operators and poolside assistants.

Club Chairman Bob Wells compared the event together with Charlotte Elliott-Wright, who commented,

“It was great to finally get back to swimming proper club champs as we haven’t had such a well-structured event since covid. This is mainly due to all the army of volunteers that help on the events and behind the scenes to help the children fulfil their potential. To see the joy on the swimmers faces ranging from 8 years to 17 years never gets old.”

Bob thanked all the volunteers for their passion and commitment, as many people are needed to run the club! If not involved you have no idea what it takes.

The medals and trophies were presented by  our club coaches. The numbers attending had to be restricted because of the size of the venue which unfortunately prevented the club from inviting honoured guests.

The room was nicely set up by Sarah Stanley and her small team with a hot buffet and cakes starting the evening off well. The medals and trophies were presented in front of a balloon arch surrounding the swimming club’s logo. The trophy secretary’s Lisa Barnett and Dawn Waring made the presentations run like clockwork.

Sarah Richardson has recently retired from her coaching role after 23years and a token of the club’s appreciation was presented to her by Rachael Miller, treasurer.

It was an emotional evening as Jacqui McIntyre co-presented with our current Director of Swimming Ian Roscoe, The Director of Swimming award to Hannah Taylor, to a standing ovation.

The awards were followed by a fundraising chocolate raffle run by Claire Annison -Snowden and Laura Meston, a unique ‘disco ‘was then enjoyed by all.
