Buy healthy food to complement your fitness work-out – and bring some extra produce in to help the needy in East Lindsey this festive season.
From now and through December, the team at Meridian Leisure Centre, Skegness Pool & Fitness Suite and Horncastle Pool & Fitness Suite are accepting tins and goods, which they will collect and deliver to the Community Larder.
Horncastle Pool & Fitness Suite will be collecting for the Horncastle Community Larder
Meridian Leisure Centre will be collecting for the Trinity Centre
Skegness Pool & Fitness Suite will be collecting for The Storehouse Food Bank
Items to donate: Xmas pudding, Christmas cake, stuffing, sweets and chocolate, cranberry sauce, gravy, savoury biscuits/ crackers, sweet biscuits, minced pies, brandy sauce and custard. These items should ideally be donated by the end of the first week of December to be collected in time for Christmas Day. But donations of long-life milk, sugar, tinned meat and vegetables are always welcome.
Meanwhile staff are gearing up for a busy pre-Christmas period with special offers and fun events to mark advent, which include:
- Waterwise Swimming Lessons: anyone who signs up for lessons in December will get a full Junior Membership free for two months from the date they sign up – this can be used at the centre by anyone under 18;
- Visitors will have the chance to play Board Game Bingo – the more you attend the centre, the more numbers you will get and the more lines you will complete, which leads to prizes;
- The regular Christmas elves will be out and about again this year, hiding their golden tickets around the Centre – and if you find one, in the spirit of the season, you will be encouraged to pass it on to someone else in the building, who will receive a gift from reception. It’s the spirit of Christmas!
