Works Commences at London Road

/ Health & Fitness

Work has started this week at London Road Pavilion in Louth on the new £130,000 Astroturf surface.

The decision, initially agreed by East Lindsey District Council in February this year, supports the programme of investment in sports facilities in the District. The £130,000 investment in the existing Astroturf pitch at London Road Pavilion, which is now 20 years old and reached the end of its life, will see the venue continue to provide sports and recreation within the local area. Louth Hockey Club, one of the principal users of the facility, have also contributed towards the project, providing a total of £50,000.

Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure and Culture, who operate London Road Pavilion, are excited to see that the work has started. Aeneas Richardson, Executive Director at Magna Vitae said: “We’re incredibly pleased to see the work commence this week for the new Astroturf pitch. London Road Pavilion plays a huge part in the leisure and sporting offer in Louth and this will help ensure that the site remains one of the district’s leading venues for outdoor sports and recreation well into the future.”

Councillor Graham Marsh, Deputy Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Partnerships, added: “As a Council we want to continue to support our residents to live healthy and active lives. Working with our partners at Magna Vitae, and the clubs that are based at London Road, it ensures the site has a strong future and is equipped to serve the local community who value it so much for many more years to come.”
