Support from Louth Rotary Club helps keep Sporting Memories alive

/ Health & Fitness

Thanks to a £500 donation from Louth Rotary Club to the community arm of the Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure & Culture, the Sporting Memories programme is can continue to live on!

Louth Rotary Club have supported Magna Vitae Trust with their community activities, in particular their Sporting Memories programme over the last five years. Sporting Memories, initially created during lockdown, and delivered virtually allowed people aged, 50-plus to meet and discuss previous events and famous occasions. Following on from lockdown, the group met face-to-face in Louth, Skegness, Horncastle and Mablethorpe.

The session, now delivered as part of the ‘Ageless and Agile’ group, continues to provide access to a variety of activities linked to physical activity and mental and physical wellbeing. The sessions, delivered weekly within the Magna Vitae leisure venues, include nutritional support, advice, guidance and signposting to other services.

Dianna Broadmeadow from Louth Rotary Club said: “Thank you for allowing us to learn about the way the project has evolved. I personally am thrilled to see it still going, and it is such an important lifeline for many. I had a long conversation with a lady who was the carer for her husband, and she was so enthusiastic and full of praise for Marko”.

In past years, Louth Rotary Club has donated to Magna Vitae’s Dementia Swimming group and the hugely successful Winter Games, which took place in November 2019 with money raised at the club’s annual Louth Memory Walk.

Thanking the club, Magna Vitae Lifestyle Partnership Lead Tracey Wilkinson, said: “It is wonderful to have this continued support and vital too, that we can use the money donated to reach out to people in Louth and the surrounding villages who will truly benefit from the work we do.”

If you’re interested in attending one of Magna Vitae’s Ageless and Agile sessions, these take place on Thursdays at 1.30pm at Meridian Leisure Centre, Mondays at Station Sports Centre at 10am, Skegness Pool & Fitness Suite on Tuesdays at 10am and Horncastle Pool & Fitness Suite on Fridays from 10am.
