Louth Swimming Club 4th Annual Biathlon

Sunday 28 July saw 54 swimmers from Louth Swimming Club compete in the Club’s 4th Annual Biathlon event.  The event marks the end of the Club’s season before swimmers took a well-deserved break from training and competing. The numbers were slightly down from last year, as many members plan their annual holiday around the clubs 2-week summer break.

Held at clubs flagship home of The Meridian Leisure Centre the event was kindly sponsored by local firm europa industries Louth’s packaging specialists  The competitors of all ages  train in the Club’s Skills, Development, Performance and Masters squads had to complete a 400m timed swim before setting out on 4 laps around the Wood Lane playing fields a distance of approx. 1500m.  The weather was ideal for the runners the volunteer marshals and the field was cleared of all debris.

Charlotte Elliott-Wright (Event organiser) was out of the Country on family duties, but had left an easy to follow timeline which ran exactly as planned .

Enthusiastically cheered on by parents, coaches and fellow swimmers the all competitors were awarded medals and trophies went to the fastest in each age group.  The winners of these were:

Harry Ellis (boys 8 yrs); Elysia ( girls 9 years); Henry Buckley and Florrie Hensman (boys and girls 10 years); William Taylor and Oliva Anstey ((boys and girls 11 years); Jake Adams and Daisy Jacklin  (boys and girls 12 years); Luke Brumpton and Evie Wright  (boys and girls 13 years); George Billington and Libby Doubleday (boys and girls 14 years); Ethan Briggs and Katie Roscoe (boys and girls 15 years and over).
