Last call for SO Festival Ambassador Applications

/ Culture

EXCITING free arts festival SO Festival 2016 has issued its ‘last call’ for ambassador applications, as the deadline to register interest closes 29 April.

Following the success of last year’s SO Festival ambassador programme, the family-friendly arts festival is seeking 20 arts enthusiasts from across Lincolnshire to be the face of the upcoming festival. They will be responsible for engaging with the public and promoting the event, as well as listening to audience feedback that will influence future festival programmes.

Lorna Fulton, SO Festival director said: “We’re looking for anyone over the age of 16 who is interested in the arts and would like to learn new skills. We offer full training to our ambassadors, which will make a great addition to their CV, including customer care, marketing, events and community engagement. We had fantastic feedback from our young ambassadors last year, so wanted to open the opportunity out to a wider range of ages and offer even more places on the scheme.

“This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone looking for work experience or those wishing to gain future employment within the creative and cultural sectors.”

Taking place from Saturday 25 June through to Sunday 3 July, the festival and its team of ambassadors will be touring Mablethorpe, Horncastle, Alford, Louth, Spilsby, Woodhall Spa and Skegness for nine days of explosive outdoor entertainment.

SO Festival 2016 is inspired by ‘the elements’ – earth, air, fire and water – and remains one of the most exciting, accessible and innovative outdoor family festivals in the UK.

Lorna continued: “We can’t wait to see the festival tour East Lindsey once again. Our aim is to make the arts accessible to everyone and create opportunities for the local community to get involved. In addition to our ambassador programme, we’re also looking for locals to help us with our exciting planting project.”

SO Festival has recently been recognised for its contribution to culture in the community in a government white paper highlighting the social and economic benefits the event has on health, wellbeing and economic growth within the community.
