Just days after the re-opening of the fitness area after its £155,000 refurbishment, we can now reveal that our indoor pool is getting top-class treatment.
Whether you are a regular visitor or come for a swim every now and again, you will be delighted to learn that we are investing £140,000 on improvements to the indoor pool. As a result, the facility will close, with activity moving to the outdoor facility where swimming lessons and the popular Aquacise classes will continue.
The final swim day indoors will be on June 30, with a planned re-opening on September 3. This latest improvement will see a total investment in the Skegness site approaching £300,000 this spring and summer in joint projects between ourselves and our partners at East Lindsey District Council.
The £140,000 transformation will see the pool tank internal finishes and deck surround refitted with modern commercial ceramic tiling, with drainage channels to the poolside shower areas providing better shower units, privacy screening and a better look. Meanwhile, the pool tank will incorporate a new style finger grip edge profile to aid competition swimmers and its layout will be tiled to FINA international competitor standards.
Our Chief Executive, Mark Humphreys, says: “There is no doubt of the investment that is being put into Skegness as we look at ensuring our customers are provided with the best facilities there are in the region.
“Of course, we apologise for the slight disruption that such work causes, however we have our popular outdoor pool and we know that these improvements will be welcomed by all,” he adds.
Meanwhile, we can reveal the dates the outdoor pool will operate over the summer of 2018:
We opened last week, May 26 for the half-term holiday, and will open at weekends during June, before daily opening from June 30 to September 2, when it returns to weekend opening until September 23.
Further details of the full outdoor pool programme will be released soon.
