It’s never too late to start Adult Swimming Lessons, and enjoy all the benefits of being active in the water.

Not only will learning to swim equip you with the important life skills that will help you to get out of potentially life threatening situations, you will also be able to enjoy all the physical and mental wellbeing benefits of going for a regular swim.

Did you know that swimming is a great way to get active, it’s great for both your cardiovascular health, your balance, and even muscle definition.

When you swim you are constantly working to stay a float, this keeps your heart rate pumping strong, and promotes a healthy heart, you must also use all of your muscles, to push and pull yourself through the water, helping to strengthen those muscles and build tone and definition.

Whilst learning to swim may be scary at first, from the moment you first dip your toe in, you will love it! and before you know it you will be coming for a regular relaxing swim in one of our general swimming or lane swimming sessions. We also have adults only and 50+ sessions for those of us who don’t like getting splashed.

Embark upon Adult swimming lessons and unlock a world of fun aquatic activities

As well as the physical and mental wellbeing benefits of learning to swim, once you are water confident, you will be able to unlock a world of fun aquatic activities, from surfing to paddle boarding,  aquacise, to water skiing. You could also take part in that Triathlon you’ve always been talking about!

The four stages of learning to swim:

  • Be water confident. You will become confident in entering the pool safely and to move confidently and competently  around the swimming pool. We will work with you to gain basic core aquatic skills including entries, exits, buoyancy, balance and aquatic breathing.
  • Be a swimmer. Once you have mastered the basics of moving around the pool, we will work with you to help you start swimming independently. At this stage we will work over short distances (5 to 10 metres) whilst you gain confidence without support or swimming aids
  • Be a better swimmer. We will help you build your confidence and skills so that you are able to swim up to 400 metres without aid.  We will also encourage you to other activities on our pool programme.
  • Be a master swimmer. You will further develop your skills and strokes to give you access to clubs & competitions.

1:1 and 2:1 sessions

In addition to our group lessons programme, we also offer 1:1 and 2:1 lessons, helping you to gain confidence in the water faster and be comfortable in overcoming any fears.

1:1 and 2:1 sessions are also useful if you would like to improve your skills and focus on a particular area

All of our 1:1 and 2:1 lessons are subject to availability.
